The last of my "Aloha" wood art panels went to it's new home last week. I know it will be loved and is part of a new beginning.
Letting go is hard but done kindly can be valuable, work with what is working and not was isn't. be Brave to transform and change what you know isn't right. The above pictures show two paintings at three different stages. A blossoming of the paintings took over once I could detached myself from trying to control the outcome.
Have to foster Gratitude as much as possible. Thank you to my lovely customers, who not only purchase and support my art life but send me photos of their treasures. I am loving this shot of my designs in their new home.
Can you believe, I forgot to take photos of our workshop in action? Seriously, we were all having such a creative wonderful time that it never even crossed my mind. This is the best I could do, after shots! There is an elephant to be shipped off to South Africa, a marvellous butterfly which is part of a bedroom re - decoration and butterflies and anchors off to be framed. Thank you to my lovely students, I am blessed I get to have such creative souls to hang out with. What shall we do next holidays?
Just for the record, I am not a drawer or illustrator. I have absolutely no drawing skills whatsoever! Every now and then I do take pencil/pen to paper and have a doodle. I have been using some beautiful pencils called "Inktense" they are expensive but so lovely and soft with quite brilliant colours, which does not show up well in this shot. It is good to step outside of your comfort zone, that is where the growth happens. On that note, back to the drawing board. Every school holidays I like to have a mini art workshop in my home. I enjoy teaching and sharing my knowledge and I love having like minded people around my table loving the creative process. It is such good therapy for everyone involved. I only feel comfortable having people who I know, and I often wish I had a space outside of my home so I could open up the classes to the wider community. For now though I am looking forward to my little group arriving and seeing their results of the mixed media project I have for them. I shall share the finished works here soon. ......an intense and irresistible desire for freedom. My family and I recently travelled to Vietnam and I discovered that travelling, for me comes with an incredible sense of freedom. To experience a different way of life, to drop yourself into a contrasting culture expands the mind in so many ways, particularly creatively. I found the time to notice the "everyday" life of colours, language and smells that can completely turn you on your head........ this is stunning Hanoi. I have wanted to teach a mixed media workshop for a long time. For those that have been students of mine know that we have shared the joys of making a Christmas Bauble and turning a blank canvas into an intuitive creative painting together. However, I have always loved paper and so I think it is time to share my paper love. I have been collaborating with my beautiful son, who is a fabulous student and his art work turned out fabulously! Mine however was a dud, so back to the drawing board and teaching plan until it has been perfected. Stay tuned and hopefully there will be a workshop for the upcoming holidays. “In learning you will teach, and in teaching you will learn.” - Phil Collins It is really wonderful to be passionate about something (having, showing, or caused by strong feelings or beliefs). Painting, creating and teaching are only a couple of mine. I am also grateful to have yoga as another passion. This quote is on the door of my Studio where I practise, I know what a lucky girl I am. What is your passion? Maybe you have one but never labelled it with this thrilling word. "Your passion must come from the things that fuel you from the inside". - Randy Pausch |
