A successful book week at school, all the plans for the next Christmas Bauble workshop are complete, Christmas on line shopping arrived, birthday art celebrations and a 5 day cleanse. What a great week!

On the weekend, I was blessed to be asked to run my mixed media workshop for a friends' daughters' 13th birthday. We had 13 girls all set up to collage, paint and get creative. My intention was for them to find some creative abandon, where they didn't think too hard about making things "perfect". I pretty much guaranteed them that if they followed my instruction, used their intuition they will love the end result. What a great job they did, a little guidance here and there, some help with colour choice and the pictures speak a thousands words. I hope the techniques they have learnt will present themselves along their creative journey at school as well.
As mentioned before, I ran a mixed media workshop during the holidays however the exciting thing about this was that I had another creative join me. Kylie Carson is a friend of mine who never ceases to amaze me with what she fits into her life. She has many talents and one of them is her beautiful photography. Kylie photographed our morning together and has written a really lovely piece about Bec Schopen ART, so pop over and enjoy her visual feast!
Kylie Carson Photography One thing I love about school holidays is the opportunity to get creative. It seems that our lives are so busy that when holidays finally come along there is time to pull out supplies and fill our time with exploration. I usually run a workshop and share that time with a group of creative people, but I like the unexpected creative opportunities. I got to hang out with a dear friend of mine and her daughter yesterday and share with them my process for this collage art work. We had the best time, laughs, exploration and curiosity were all experienced.
This weeks inspiration was found at The Blackman, Top Paddock, and Phrahran Markets. Coffee was served in my favourite coloured cup, fresh spring flowers were so cheap you could fill every room, and the prettiest breakfast (and the biggest) I have ever seen. Topped off with spending time with old & new friends and beautiful family. Happy long weekend everyone.
