Today in my workshop we explored collage and stencilling with canvas and acrylics. The room was the quietest I have ever heard, with 5 little creative souls concentrating very hard on their works of art. Thank you to everyone who came today, I am so lucky to get to share this with you.

I had a successful workshop today, it got me thinking, what makes a successful art workshop? I guess it starts with, what is your definition of success? I realised that today my definition of success involves a lot more than recognition and wealth. Success to me, sounds like the squeal of delight as a young student stamps her art work with a beautiful palm tree, or the kindness of the students sharing and helping each other and saying what they like about each others art work. Success is a Mum (who has brought 4 little girls to the art workshop) tell me how "relaxing" it is as she sits painting & gluing away encircled by her troops. Success, is being surrounded by happy and creative individuals who are in complete joy, living in the moment.
Today I got to share the process of making collage hearts with a fabulous group. I have to say all the creativity going on around my table was so great to watch and everyone's hearts were so individual. I am most grateful that I get to share the properties of art making! I think everyone left feeling, satisfied, relaxed and happy.
This weeks Christmas Bauble workshop had us all in the the Festive Spirit, we were relaxed and chatty with hot coffees and Christmas music cheering us through, only one more workshop left to go! I have seen patterns made by my favourite tree and put together a new altar table. The kids (plus a couple of supportive ring ins) joined me for the end of my 6 week Modern Yogi Project, we grooved the night away and sweated it out in celebration of 6 amazing weeks of yoga, meditation and self study. I am also really loving Redbubble's new mugs, I have just ordered a couple from my shop to check out the quality, I'll let you know how I find them.
So much fun was had by 9 creative tribe members. Getting their creative on with glue, fabric and candy canes! Thank you so much for attending, it feeds my soul so much and your creative baubles where all so beautiful! Here are some pics.....
One thing I love about school holidays is the opportunity to get creative. It seems that our lives are so busy that when holidays finally come along there is time to pull out supplies and fill our time with exploration. I usually run a workshop and share that time with a group of creative people, but I like the unexpected creative opportunities. I got to hang out with a dear friend of mine and her daughter yesterday and share with them my process for this collage art work. We had the best time, laughs, exploration and curiosity were all experienced.
This week apparently brought World Rhino Day, and I just so happen to have a Rhino design on a tee, my new iPhone Pineapple case arrived, we got our creative on with 6 wonderful students for a workshop. There were some school holiday shenanigans, a 9th birthday and my lovely photographer friend came to visit (Kylie Carson).
Yesterday's Mixed Media Workshop was lots of fun, full of colour and smiles. We had elephants, hearts and anchors all being framed by the end of the day. Creative abandon was had by all! Thank you to the very talented Kylie Carson for the lovely captures.
I am running another mixed media art workshop tomorrow, and I love how the ideas for this project are limitless. My beautiful boy made this Elephant in the last workshop and I had it printed (in my Redbubble shop) for him onto a cushion. He has such a sense of satisfaction when he looks at it.
Can you believe, I forgot to take photos of our workshop in action? Seriously, we were all having such a creative wonderful time that it never even crossed my mind. This is the best I could do, after shots! There is an elephant to be shipped off to South Africa, a marvellous butterfly which is part of a bedroom re - decoration and butterflies and anchors off to be framed. Thank you to my lovely students, I am blessed I get to have such creative souls to hang out with. What shall we do next holidays?
